How to download Minecraft 1.17.1 Java Edition update, which is expected to release on July 6th

In April, Mojang announced the split of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update. Due to technical problems and the global pandemic, developers would have failed to deliver a satisfying update.

I keep crashing when I have the latest OptiFine 1.17.1 version in my mods folder (Forge), anybody know why? : r/Optifine
