TL;DR -Aka thought Kaguya-sama had a common concept as premise, but apparently readers found it refreshing. -Aka writes characters with a mindset to subvert the original settings he gave them so as to create contrasts and comedy. First the tropes, then the unexpected twist. -Aka bases episodes on “negative emotions”. He explores a certain kind of negative emotion (e.g. jealousy), imagines its expression on different characters, and writes chapters. He still has a lot of them in stock. -Aka pays attention to not to get too overboard with a character’s negative side, and plans to add marks for them continuously in the story. -Fujiwara has no dark side within. -Comedy and drawing cute characters is never Aka’s prime focus. Instead, he wants to make his work a saving grace for readers. Serious story arcs in the series showcases this the best. -Aka wants to advance the story to the third year arc, which will also mark the beginning of the second half of the story. This is why he is setting up to advance Tsubame’s (and Ishigami’s) story right now. He is cautious but willing to introduce new characters (male possibly) into the cast by then. Hayasaka may also get major focus after the third year arc starts, approximately 7 volumes later. -Aka does not have an ending in mind. However, he is thinking about interesting “ways” to end the story. He is also open to creating a sad ending. -Aka respects Haruba Negi, the author of Gotobun-no-Hanayome, while also sees him as a traitor for ending the run this early. He stated that the winner in Toubun was OBVIOUS from a mangaka standpoint from the get go. -Some special Fujiwara thing may happen again in season 2 of anime.
