O objetivo de Architects of the West Kingdom é alcançares pontos de vitória (VP) no final do jogo. Os pontos são ganhos construindo vários edifícios e avançando com o trabalho na catedral do arcebispo. Ao longo do jogo, os jogadores precisam tomar muitas decisões morais. Contudo, somente no final do jogo a tua virtude será julgada. Alguns negócios dissimulados aqui e ali podem não parecer muito, mas caso vão longe demais serás punido.
