On December 15, 2022, FIDE announced the paths of qualification for the next Candidates Tournament, which will be held in 2024 and will determine the challenger in the 2024 World Championship. The paths are: Runner-up at the 2023 World Championship Top 3 finishers at the 2023 World Cup Top 2 finishers
