Five Indian superheroes that belong to the Marvel and DC universe. These characters have different superhuman powers and can form an alliance of their own.
Not so long ago, the inner child in all of us almost jumped out of very own bodies at the rumors of the original Spiderman Tobey Maguire returning as New York's friendliest wall-climbing and building hopping vigilante in Tom Holland's upcoming Spiderman multiverse movie. © Comic BookIf this wasn't all, we were also provided with a four-hour-plus extended version of Zack Snyder's Justice League, which saw Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, and the rest return to right some wrongs of the originally released Justice League of 2017.Now, as we continue to get the much-needed dose of our Superhero drama through the Disney Plus TV series, Indian actor Farhan Akhtar's recent selection for an international Marvel project has thrown the light on how India could have a say in the superhero universe.Hence, in what could be India's What You Can Do, I Can Too battle cry to the rest of the Superhero world, we have made a list of the top five Indian superheroes that could stamp their mark in the Marvel or DC universe.1. SPIDER-MAN: INDIA © We Got This Covered/Marvel ComicsOriginating out of a comic book published by the Gotham Entertainment Group in India back in 2004, Spider-Man: India is India's take on the original American Spiderman, Peter Parker.Unlike Parker, who got bitten by a radioactive spider in New York, our Indian Spidey, Pavitra Prabhakar, gets his superhuman capabilities as a gift from a Yogi, so that he can fight evil.In contrast to the Spiderman that we see in the Avengers, Prabhakar does not use a full spandex suit but instead sports a Dhoti underneath his upper body Spidey suit.A few of his powers like wall-crawling abilities, superhuman strength, speed, stamina, and regenerative healing make him a lot similar to our Peter Parker.Well, with Spidey-multiverse films in fashion at the moment, don't sweat if you get to see the Indian Spidey jump the gargoyles of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai.2. INDRA © MarvelWe are quite familiar with the likes of the X-Men clan that features mutants like the Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Gambit, Iceman, and co, however, there is one mutant at Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters that you might not have heard of, Paras Gavaskar.Born to a wealthy family living in Panchajana outside of Mumbai, Gavaskar enrolled at the Xavier Institute in the United States after discovering his powers.Going by the codename of Indra, Gavaskar has purple skin, a red marking on his forehead, and lines all across his body. The red-haired Indian mutant has some impressive powers that include a retractable exoskeleton, which acts as body armor. Apart from this, he has superhuman durability and Hindu-stylized armor, and levitating weapons that include swords, knives, and axes.3. CHAKRA: THE INVINCIBLE © MarvelThis character is held in a special light as the superhero stands as the first Indian superhero that was created by Stan Lee, the creator of Spiderman, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, the X-Men.Chakra: The Invincible would be tasked with the responsibility of leading the Indian batch of superheroes into battle if warring aliens decide to take over Mumbai, Bengaluru, or New Delhi.Chakra's alter-ego is Raju Rai, a resident of Mumbai, who came to possess a technological suit that weaponizes all the Chakras in his body so that he can turn into a crime-fighting superhero. 4. ARUNA © DCUnlike many superheroes across the world, Aruna is an Indian superhero belonging to the DC Universe that is genderfluid and hence is referred to as 'they'.The superhero is said to be close to the BAT Family and has on a number of occasions been Batgirl's ally during crime-fighting missions.Possessing the ability to shapeshift, Aruna once even helped Batman and Batgirl hunt down a missing person who was last seen in India's southern Chennai city.If you need any more details, you can contact Rajnikanth on this.5. RAMA © DCWell, well, well. Now, we have a god amongst us!Rama Chandra is a character in the DC universe that was born as a prince in ancient India.Said to be the seventh avatar of Hindu God Vishnu, Rama’s powers include inhuman strength, the ability to fly, immortality, hand-to-hand combat skills, swordsmanship, and the ability to the possessions of the sword Vayu, which shoots flaming arrows.According to reports, he is reported to be a potential love interest for Wonder Woman. (Nope. Not to be confused with the Hindu God Ram)Seems like the Indian contingent of super, Superheroes looks stronger than one could have imagined.
