Queen's Gambit Declined - Janowski Variation - Remote Chess Academy

The Queen’s Gambit is a popular chess opening that starts with the moves 1.d4 d5 2.c4, and when Black plays 2…e6, we enter the Queen’s Gambit Declined, as Black declines to capture White’s pawn. One interesting variation in this opening is the Janowski Variaition, which happens after White’s 3.Nc3 (or 3.Nf3), and Black’s 3…a6. Black’s idea is to capture the pawn on c4 with 4…dxc4 and then play 5…b5. This is a universal opening idea, so it can be used irrespective of what White plays. In both 3.Nc3 and 3.Nf3, Black can continue his plans with this line. This is suitable for both blitz/rapid and classical games. This opening variation is also suitable for players of any level.
