Stream Relievo A Child's Tag Game by The Belle Vue Zoo

Relievo (see ring-a-levio in the USA). A street game seemingly played in many different countries of the World. Players on one team are given time to hide and are then sought out by members of the other team who try to capture them, keep them in a place of confinement (a den)and keep them from being released by their teammates. As a child my favourite hiding spot was behind some bushes near to a pub called The New Inn. To my left of the bushes was a wall and a picket fence. Were you to climb these you would have entered the front garden of 16 Wardle Brook Avenue the home of the Infamous Moors murderers where two of their unimaginably evil and sadistic child murders were committed. The council tried to re-let the house but a series of tenants complained “of a terrible sense of dread hanging in the air” and demanded to be rehoused When no one would live there, it was finally demolished in October 1987.
