Although Lucasfilm and Disney have announced more Star Wars movie and TV projects in the works, none of it had to do with Rian Johnson's trilogy of movies that he was planning on tackling sometime after Knives Out and The Last Jedi. Many assumed the films were quietly cancelled by Lucasfilm following the backlash Johnson's The Last Jedi received in 2017. That apparently isn't the case, and those series of films are still in the works. Johnson has said he plans to tell a story from a corner of Star Wars lore we haven't see before.
